Lately, many moms are reevaluating their lives and exactly where they are at and where they are going. And maybe you are doing this too, trying to decide what you can do to make your life more financially more stable and are searching for some scholarships for moms to help make these changes.
Most single moms, and women in general, who do not have an education past high school will never make more than $30,000 a year and many will make much less than that. But it is never too late to make changes in your life so that you can increase your income. If you go back to school right now and get a degree, you could be making more money in just a couple of years. After all, you do not have to go to a four-year college, which could take you even more if you are unable to attend full time. You could also opt for a two-year degree in a trade such as medical transcription, computer graphics, or some similar vocation.
And you can find scholarships for moms for even these two-year degree colleges and trade schools. As long as the school is accredited, you can also take advantage of the government grants available. And the most popular one is the Pell grant in which you could be awarded up to $5350 per year based on income.
But there are also scholarships from companies that are especially for the adult students. One such scholarship is from a company called Executive Women International or EWI. This scholarship is offered to adult students who are in transitional periods of their life and this could be those just entering the workforce, those who are displaced workers, and/or those who are single parents. The chapter awards vary but there are also 12 scholarships valued at $2500 which are also given out.
Application deadlines vary, so you need to consult the EWI chapter in your area as to the deadline for these scholarships for moms before you apply.
And if you hear other people saying that scholarships for moms do not exist, you can let them know that there are scholarships for the nontraditional students, which includes single moms.
